Innovation and competitiveness in monitoring critical infrastructures in Romania

Experimental development activities undertaken by INSOFT Development & Consulting led to the achievement of an innovative platform prototype, dedicated to monitoring critical infrastructures.

Within the project “Developing an innovative platform for monitoring remote objectives in the critical infrastructure of Romania” part of CREVIS Pole of Competitiveness, INSOFT Development & Consulting, together with its project partners, develops a hardware-software solution based on the most modern technologies, used for achieving the project objectives.

The innovative platform prototype demonstrates the possibility of monitoring remote objectives in critical infrastructures in Romania. The prototype allows quantification of structural modifications in certain isolated objectives in critical infrastructures, reducing the risk of serious accidents, with a major impact on people and environment.

The prototype architecture is based on a prototype monitoring system type IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) which allows communication with relevant sensors to monitor their intended purpose structure (displacements, temperature variations, etc.). 

Sensors (transducers data) of the experimental model can connect locally to gateway equipment (base station to sensors). This equipment is responsible for translating electrical / wireless impulses, received from sensors through local communications protocols, in numerical values ​​usable in other applications of the prototype, where information that will be processed at the platform is stored.

All data centralized in easily accessible database, can be viewed online, both through user-friendly interfaces (SaaS - Software as a Service), and in the virtual interfaces (VRaaS -Virtual Reality as a Service) within CREVIS center of excellence - immersion virtual reality cube. 

Information collected directly and in real time from remote objectives of critical infrastructures can be used as 3D simulations in virtual reality immersion cube,

allowing determination of isolated target behavior, studied in different circumstances.

Critical infrastructures are those infrastructures that depend on the stability, safety and security systems and processes with an important role in ensuring security, in the operation and implementation of the economic, social, political, informational and military processes, and are part of the security strategy of Romania having an active role in all human fields of activities.

"Pole of competitiveness for increased economic productivity through the innovative use of virtual reality in order to provide services to critical infrastructure -CREVIS" is an innovative project which aims to create the first center of excellence in Europe dedicated to monitoring critical infrastructures and training specialists in the filed  through augmented reality virtual reality.


About CREVIS Pole of Competitiveness

CREVIS aims to increase the economic productivity in critical infrastructures sector and adjacent services, by building a research and development center. Within the center, innovative techniques of virtual and augmented reality shall be used together with monitoring techniques to ensure the objectives of critical infrastructures in Romania, their maintenance and operational personnel training assigned to assist and intervene on these objectives.
