INSOFT announces the construction start of the R&D center for the virtual reality applied in the critical infrastructure sector

INSOFT Development & Consulting, headquartered in 106, Matei Basarab Street, Bld.73, floor 1, Ap.4 Bis, District 3, Bucharest, Romania, is running, starting with 09.04.20114, the investment project “Research & Development Center for virtual reality applied in the critical infrastructure sector” within the pole “CREVIS – Pole of competitiveness for the economic productivity improving by the innovative use of the virtual reality with the aim of services providing for the critical infrastructures”. The project is co-founded through the European Regional Development Fund, under the financing agreement no. P019001/1778/09.04.2014, signed with The Ministry of European Funds, as Management Authority of Sectoral Operational Programme “Increase of Economic Competitiveness”.

The total value of the project is of 34,363,785.87 lei; which 23,059,492.51 lei (19,831,163.56 lei from ERDF and 3,228,328.95 lei from the state budget) of represent non-refundable financial assistance.

At the beginning of November, in Prahova County, Tîrgșoru Vechi Township, Strejnic Village, works for the construction of the R&D Center for the virtual reality applied in the critical infrastructure sector have started. This demarche represents a premiere in Romania, as the building will help meeting the main objective of the investment project - improving the economic productivity in the critical infrastructure sector and adjacent services.

The investment project forms an integral part of the CREVIS competitiveness pole package, as well as the pole development strategy.

The functional Center for Research & Development will host companies that will use innovative techniques of virtual and augmented reality, along with monitoring techniques for assuring the security of isolated objectives of the critical infrastructures in Romania, their maintenance and training of the assigned operational personnel.

About CREVIS pole of competitiveness

The IT Pole of competitiveness – CREVIS, is one of the main R&D and Innovation projects developed in the region. CREVIS represents an ambitious collection of projects (investment & innovation projects) that aims at creating the first Center of Excellence in Europe for remote-monitoring, resource training, simulation and augmented virtual reality monitoring in the critical infrastructure sector, simulated in an immersive virtual reality.

The IT Pole of competitiveness – CREVIS is made up of 7 projects implemented by 13 partners: 11 SMEs and 2 Universities:

  • 1 investment project;
  • 4 research-development-innovation projects oriented toward the development of innovative products or services;
  • 2 interlinked projects (soft) – integrated management and informing, advertising and dissemination.

The IT Pole of competitiveness – CREVIS aims at improving the economic productivity in the critical infrastructure sector and adjacent services, by developing a R&D Center, that will use innovative techniques of virtual and augmented reality, along with monitoring techniques for assuring the security of the critical infrastructures isolated objectives in Romania, their maintenance and training of the assigned operational personnel.

Furthermore, by using the virtual and augmented reality, state-of-the-art technology, together with monitoring and real time communication software, a range of products and services for the critical infrastructure sector will be developed targeting to assist in the security, maintenance and remote monitoring, as well as the personnel training.
